Cornerstone Automotive was founded by the Ciminos in November of 2003, right here in Wilmington, with a simple idea: build a dealership rooted in family, honesty, and a genuine love for people and cars — built on a foundation of trust and value.

However our story begins much longer ago with Ugo Cimino, who was born in Naples, Italy, and grew up during World War II. When his school was bombed, Ugo became an apprentice mechanic at a young age, learning the value of hard work, problem-solving, and perseverance. In the early 1950s, he immigrated to the United States, where he soon met Geraldine Mazzola, and together they raised five children — three boys and two girls.

Those children grew up watching their father fix and rebuild cars, absorbing his work ethic and passion for the trade. That early exposure would eventually inspire three of the Cimino brothers — Bill, Ernie, and Gerri — to open a dealership of their own.

That dealership became Cornerstone Mitsubishi.

Today, family remains at the core of everything we do. Bill leads the store with the same values passed down from his parents, and all four of his children now work at the dealership. Seven of our 17 employees are direct family members. Ernie manages the service department, ensuring every vehicle is cared for with skill, honesty, and pride.

While our roots are family-run, our mission is community-focused. We treat our customers like neighbors, not transactions, and we believe trust is earned one interaction at a time — whether you’re buying your first car, servicing the one you love, or just stopping by with questions.

At Cornerstone Mitsubishi, generations of experience meet modern innovation — and everything we do is built on a foundation of trust and value."
